political science and public policy

I am an Associate Professor in Public Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Much of my work has focused on accountability and transparency, especially in public finance. I am currently working on a book about economic policymakers, and other projects on political leaders and on the right to vote. I studied political science at the Freie Universität Berlin and Stellenbosch University and completed my PhD at the LSE. Between 1997 and 2003, I worked at the Institute for Democracy in South Africa (Idasa). I have also been a visiting scholar at Harvard, the Hertie School, Sciences Po Paris, and Stellenbosch. My CV is here.
